BEING CONSUMED

"Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the people of Israel out of Egypt?" (Exodus 3:11)

Commentary

Rashi comments on the verse that follows (3:12) the verse above: "He answered him regarding the former (question) first, and regarding the latter (question) last. That which you have said, 'Who am I that I shall go unto Pharaoh?'—it is not your own (going) but Mine, 'for I will be with you;' 'And this' vision which you have seen in the bush '(will be) for you the sign that I have sent you,' and that you will succeed in My mission. And I am able to deliver; just as you saw in the bush performing My mission and it was not consumed, so you will go (to perform) My mission and you will not be harmed."
